Cognitive assessment and support for education, sport and, coming soon, medicine

Education · Medicine · Sport. One approach to understand how each person pays attention, makes decisions and learns, and to support them at every stage.

How we work

Our approach is a five-step cycle. The tools change depending on the person and the goal; the process does not.
01

Assess

We collect data in a standardised way, interpreted by a professional.
02

Profile

We build an individual cognitive profile: strengths and areas worth working on.
03

Develop

We propose a personalised programme, using the tools that suit each case.
04

Monitor

After a period of time we repeat the assessment to see how the person is progressing.
05

Analyse

We review the results with the family, school, team or professional who consulted us, and agree on next steps.
This is how Erudit works. It is not a validated clinical protocol or a guarantee of results.

Three areas, one way of working

Education

Developmental and cognitive profile assessment in childhood and school age. Guidance for families and support for schools and school guidance counsellors (orientadores).

Medicine

Training for professionals in assessing and interpreting cognitive tools, and interdisciplinary work. Coming soon.

Sport

The athlete’s cognitive profile: attention, reaction time and decision-making, to understand their starting point.

Education: developmental assessment and guidance

Every child learns and develops at their own pace. In Education we observe and assess that development with standardised tools, interpret it with a professional, and guide the people who support the child.
Detecta is our developmental assessment and guidance programme. It helps you understand how a child is developing and which steps may be worth taking. It is not a medical screening or a diagnosis, and it does not replace a visit to the paediatrician or the public early-intervention services. When appropriate, we recommend turning to them.
For schools and counsellors. We offer a complementary assessment and a report with recommendations that can support the work of the school’s guidance team (orientadores).
For families. We explain your child’s profile in clear language and advise on how to support them at home and at school.

Medicine: training and interdisciplinary work

This area, which we will develop soon, focuses on training professionals in assessing and interpreting cognitive tools, and on working alongside other specialists. We do not offer treatments or promise cures, and our work does not replace a medical consultation.

Sport: the athlete's cognitive profile

In sport, attention, speed of reaction and decision-making influence how people compete and train. We assess these aspects in a standardised way and build an individual cognitive profile of the athlete, which their coach or technical team can take into account when planning their work.

After a period of training, the assessment can be repeated to observe progress. The profile describes the starting point; it does not predict or guarantee sporting performance.

What the research says

Research on neurofeedback and sports performance is an active field. The results are promising, but the evidence is still preliminary: studies often have small samples, different protocols and short programmes, and part of the effect may be due to expectation. Neurofeedback is one tool among others, and the outcome depends on the protocol and the measure used. Some recent reviews:
Yu C.-L. et al. (2025). The Effect of EEG Neurofeedback Training on Sport Performance: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports. DOI: 10.1111/sms.70055. Summary: a moderate effect on sport motor tasks (Hedges’s g = 0.78; 95% CI 0.49–1.07; 21 studies), with the methodological limitations noted by the authors themselves.
Cheng M.-Y. et al. (2024). Evaluating EEG neurofeedback in sport psychology: a systematic review of RCT studies for insights into mechanisms and performance improvement. Frontiers in Psychology. DOI: 10.3389/fpsyg.2024.1331997. A qualitative review; the authors point to inconsistent methodologies.
Tosti B. et al. (2024). Neurofeedback Training Protocols in Sports: A Systematic Review of Recent Advances in Performance, Anxiety, and Emotional Regulation. Brain Sciences. DOI: 10.3390/brainsci14101036. A narrative review; the authors call for standardised protocols.
Carvalho S.A. et al. (2026). Neurofeedback in Football: A Systematic Review of Cognitive, Technical, Physical and Psychological Outcomes. NeuroSci. DOI: 10.3390/neurosci7030050. Seven studies; the authors regard the evidence as exploratory rather than confirmatory.
